From a shared commitment to a foundation
Our journey began in 2000 with a commitment to touching lives through giving and community support. Born from 3Mint Ventures, Mint Family & Friends Foundation carries forward the work of people who believe that caring for others is a shared responsibility.
For more than a quarter of a century, our annual SOS Children programme at Sakumono Estate has brought children and supporters together. What began through family and friendship has grown into a foundation with a wider purpose: helping children and families feel supported today while creating possibilities for tomorrow.
What we do
Our work combines educational support, social programmes and initiatives aimed at building longer-term opportunity. We bring practical resources and personal guidance together, recognising that children need both the tools to learn and people who encourage them.
Support for education
School supplies, uniforms, shoes, learning resources and computers form part of our educational support. We also connect children with educators and school leaders who discuss education pathways and the possibilities that continued learning can open.
Guidance, confidence and life skills
Our programmes include talks and interactive sessions with community leaders, professionals, religious leaders, educational administrators and motivational speakers. Representatives from the military, police and fire services share perspectives on safety and civic responsibility. These conversations help broaden children’s understanding of their communities and their own futures.
Community, care and belonging
Shared meals, games, celebrations and fellowship create opportunities for children, caregivers and supporters to connect. Our annual programme brings these experiences together with practical giving, making room for learning, enjoyment and meaningful relationships.
How we work
We bring together citizens, volunteers and organisations who share our commitment to social responsibility. Some contribute resources, some give their time, and others offer knowledge, services or financial support. Each contribution helps turn a shared intention into activities and assistance that families can experience.
Our approach blends expert guidance with practical support. Beyond individual events, our longer-term ambition is to create educational, social and economic opportunities that help children and families move forward.
Rooted in Ghana, growing through partnership
Our story is closely connected to Sakumono and Tema, alongside community work extending to Volta, Eastern and Western North. Now formalised as Mint Family & Friends Foundation, we are building on that experience and seeking partnerships to strengthen and expand our work.
As we mark 26 years in 2026, our purpose remains the same: to touch lives through care, opportunity and a community willing to act together.
